Cool Kids Debut Album Shoots To #1

The Cool Kids are celebrating the success of their debut album When Fish Ride Bicycles.

The independent, digital only album has landed at #1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop album charts, #75 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #9 on the Hip-Hop R&B Charts.

The group's debut album is the first full-length release by Mountain Dew's Green Label Sound imprint and is available exclusively via iTunes.

The Cool Kids landed a deal with Green Label Sound, after a long hiatus due to a contractual dispute with their former label.

Under their new deal, Mountain Dew waived all of the label costs, and granted the group total freedom over their debut project.

"We're thrilled with the success of When Fish Ride Bicycles. We've always been fans of The Cool Kids, so it was an honor for us to be able to use our resources at Green Label Sound to help them to finally release their long-awaited album," said Brett O'Brien, vice president marketing, Mountain Dew. "The Cool Kids have two very important things in common with Mountain Dew: They do things their own way and they truly care about their fans. They are a great example of what being a Green Label Sound artist is all about."

The Cool Kids, who are currently touring with Mountain Dew to support the album, were also excited about the success of When Fish Ride Bicycles.

"We have had a great experience with Green Label Sound and the people from Mountain Dew, starting back with our single 'Delivery Man' in 2008," Cool Kids' Chuck Inglish stated. "That single did more for us than our previous full-length album did. They give us everything that any major label would, except that they don't charge all the ridiculous fees and they let us be us. This has definitely been a winning partnership."
